イギリス帝国と、望まれていたこと、それと仮想敵国 The British Empire, its desires, and its potential enemies

 イギリス帝国は、自分がここで言っていることを、加味して言うなら、北海海域の支配が、イギリスが望まれる姿です。いずれは、リトアニアのバルト海支配者の勢力と、話し合いをするということになります。もしくは占領です。

The British Empire, if you take what I'm saying here into account, wants to control the North Sea, which is what Britain wants to do, and that will eventually mean negotiating with the Lithuanian Baltic powers, or occupying them.

北海海域の支配ということになりますと、妥当な支配図があります。

それはスペイン、フランスそれぞれの北側、ベルギー、オランダ、ドイツの北側、デンマーク、ノルウェーの南西部、このへんです。北海海域の沿岸部諸国全部の支配です。

When it comes to control of the North Sea, there is a reasonable map of control.

It is the northern parts of Spain and France, the northern parts of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, and the southwestern parts of Denmark and Norway, around here. Control of all the coastal countries of the North Sea.

北海海域の支配者。・・・ええ。なんでジェームスタウンなんでしょう？さっぱりわかりません。

Ruler of the North Sea. ...Yeah. Why Jamestown? I have no idea.

ここですね。なんでなのか？なんで東インドへ行くのか？まあまずアメリカのジェームスタウンへ植民。なんでなのか？多分航海技術が上がって、楽しかったのであろうと推測します。善悪抜きの、ただ、できるようになって楽しかったという感情であろうと推測します。

It's here. Why? Why did they go to the East Indies? Well, first they colonized Jamestown in America. Why? I guess it was probably because their navigation skills had improved and they enjoyed it. There was no feeling of right or wrong, I guess it was just that they were able to do it and it was fun.

さて。

イギリス帝国が、プロテスタントで、フランスやスペインはカトリックです。イギリス帝国は、カトリックを、プロテスタントの仮想敵国と主張したようです。・・・こんな事を言っては、フランスやスペインの北側を占領して、北海沿岸部を支配することを目指されても困ります。なぜなら、支配した地域の国民を大切にしない可能性があるからです。それは、宗教弾圧です。無意味に人が弾圧される可能性があります。

Now...

The British Empire was Protestant, while France and Spain were Catholic. It seems that the British Empire claimed that Catholics were the hypothetical enemy of Protestants. ...If they said this, it would be a problem if they were to occupy the northern parts of France and Spain and aim to control the North Sea coast. This is because there is a possibility that they would not value the people of the areas they controlled. That would be religious persecution. There is a possibility that people would be oppressed pointlessly.

ここもあります。ジェームスタウンがです。北海支配されても困ります。

それと、国力。国力があまり強くなかった頃のようです。

さて、国力を高めないと。・・・他の国は、彼ら自身も、負けるもんかと言うでしょう。我々も自身の国力を予め高めておこう。こーゆーことかなあ・・と考えました。理由は様々な要素が絡み合ってということです。
